How Abstract & Title Maximized CertifID Adoption

The Abstract & Title Company was put through every type of fraud attempt. It had received phone calls from fraudsters pretending to be clients, experienced real estate agents with hacked email accounts, and received countless fraudulently altered faxed payoff statements. Fraudsters were attacking from every angle.

Fortunately, the Abstract & Title team stayed vigilant and were able to prevent fraud in their offices manually. However, the threat remained constant, and Abstract & Title was well aware that its best practices would not hold for long.

Abstract & Title implemented CertifID to protect its offices and clients from wire fraud. Like most companies, Abstract & Title had the preconceived notion that CertifID would cause friction with its change to core processes; however, it transformed these worries into proactive actions. By explaining how and why CertifID would be used before implementation, Abstract & Title primed its clients and market to be ready and eager for this process change.

Abstract & Title then began its rollout of CertifID at a single test office. As Beth described, "We did a test office with a couple of people to let them try it out and see what they thought, so that they could identify any issues." The test office found no issues with this new product or the changes to workflow. Instead, the test users raved over the simplicity and ease of using CertifID, and Abstract & Title used this positive response to encourage a domino effect of excitement and positivity among its other offices and users.

Additionally, Abstract & Title changed its processes to notify clients as early as possible that CertifID will be used and that they need to complete the request as soon as possible. The Abstract & Title teams calls each client right before sending the CertifID request and informs them they will receive a message from CertifID. Abstract & Title stresses the importance of completing the request right away in order to be ready for closing. This extra step to notify the client ahead of time has led to efficiencies and an extremely high response rate to CertifID requests.

By introducing CertifID to its clients and a test office before full implementation, Abstract & Title experienced rapid adoption of CertifID. Its real estate agent partners were ecstatic to no longer be liable for the transfer of sensitive client information, and clients appreciated the added diligence when transferring their funds.
